Concord Schools | Mt. Diablo Unified School District

Mount Diablo Unified School District (MDUSD), in Contra Costa County, California, is a public school district. It currently operates 29 elementary schools, 9 middle schools and 5 secondary schools, including 7 alternative school services and a program for adult education. With over 56 school sites and a budget of around $270,000,000, MDUSD is one of the largest school districts in the state of California. The district has over 36,000 students from K-12, over 20,000 students from adult education, and over 3,500 staff including over 2,000 accredited educators. The district covers 150 square miles (390 km2), including the cities of Concord and Clayton; and most of the Pleasant Hill and parts of Walnut Creek, Pittsburg, Lafayette, and Martinez; and unincorporated areas, including Pacheco, Clyde, and Bay Point.

From 1958 to 2012 Clayton Valley High School functioned as a MDUSD school. It was turned into a charter school in 2012, and is no longer part of the MDUSD. Pacifica High School served when it was closed from 1955 until 1976. The campus as Riverview Middle School was then re-opened.
Pleasant Hill High School operated from the time it was closed in 1953 until 1980. Later the school reopened as Pleasant Hill Middle School.

Mt. Diablo Unified School District is a great district. Everyone makes you feel welcomed. There will never be a time where you will feel an outcast in a school. The staff and teachers in all the schools have been incredible and super helpful in giving every student the best education possible. The district is really involved in making sure students have all the information they need to be successful.
