Kelly Morisseau

What’s one of your favorite design pieces you have in your own home?

It’s a bronze statue of a horse. It was an inheritance piece from my late mother, and takes two hands to lift. The base is faintly Art Deco and the horse is idealized in both its tail and the curve of its neck.

What are your favorite design trends of 2016?

I have a couple: the growing acceptance and use of LED lighting for accent lighting, and the large-format porcelain embossed or 3D tile.

Do you follow any other blogs for inspiration?  If so, which ones?

My friend, Carmen Natschke of The Decorating Diva comes to mind as a recent guilty pleasure, but I don’t generally have much time to read these days, sadly.

Can you explain a recent project you’ve been working on?

Since I talked about one of my favorite design trends of 3D tile, I just finished up a bathroom with a 12 x 35 wave pattern that I loved. Waves say serene to me, especially in a bathroom. In this project, we had the space to really play up sparkle, movement, and light. I think I could happily live in that bathroom!
